The 2016-2017 PARIM Executive, starting July 1st 2016, includes the following members:

Leslie_webDr. Leslie Anderson, Co-President
Leslie is a PGY-4 in Anatomical Pathology. She completed a B.A. in Psychology, an M.Ed., and medical school at UBC before returning to her hometown of Winnipeg for residency. She is particularly interested in autopsy and death investigation and will be heading to San Diego for a forensic pathology fellowship in July of 2018. Leslie is passionate about educating the public about medicine in general and pathology in particular and enjoys findings ways to use the media to engage with people. Outside of medicine, Leslie enjoys visual arts, pop culture, the outdoors, and traveling around the world. She and her husband welcomed their first baby, a son named Phoenix, in August of 2016.
Dr Maha HaddadDr. Maha Haddad, Co-President
Dr. Maha Haddad is a PGY4 resident specializing in Anatomical Pathology. She finished her basic, medical and residency training in Iraq, and she practiced medicine in Iraq, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates. Dr Haddad immigrated to Canada in 2011. She obtained the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada in 2012. She holds an M.Ed in Higher Education (Health Professions Field) from OISE, University of Toronto (2013). Her research interests include IMG integration and assessment issues within the Canadian Health System using Foucauldian methodology. Her hobbies include photography and learning new languages.
Inderveer_webDr. Inderveer Mahal, Treasurer
Inderveer is a second year Anesthesia resident. She was born, raised and has done all of her medical education in Winnipeg. She is excited to be a part of PARIM and to work with the Executive Council. In her spare time, she can be found running, doing yoga, or traveling.
Brittany_webDr. Brittany Perija, Membership Outreach
Brittany is a third year Internal Medicine resident. She complete her Bachelor of Science at The University of Winnipeg and her medical degree at The University of Manitoba. Last year she acted as the Internal Medicine PARIM representative, and is excited to take on the role of Secretary (Membership Outreach) this year. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends and going to book club.
Mellissa_webDr. Mellissa Ward, Member-at-Large (Communications)
Mellissa is a second year General Surgery resident. Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, she completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University before moving to Winnipeg for residency. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
Anne_webDr. Anne Finlayson, Member-at-Large (Wellness)
Annie is a second year Emergency Medicine resident. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Winnipeg and graduated with her Medical degree from the University of Manitoba. When she's not working she enjoys spending time with friends and being active outdoors. She also enjoys reading and the performance arts. She is excited to join the PARIM Executive this year!
Stacy_webDr. Stacy Chapman, Member-at-Large (Social)
Stacy is a PGY3 resident in Pediatrics. Prior to completing medical school at the University of Manitoba, she earned a Bachelor of Science Honors degree at Brandon University and a Masters of Biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan. Her current academic interest is in pediatric hematology/oncology. Outside of medicine she enjoys the outdoors, playing fastball, and traveling.
Stephanie_webDr. Stephanie Villeneuve, Member-at-Large (Social)
Stephanie is a third-year Pediatrics resident born and raised in Manitoba. She completed her undergraduate degrees in Biopsychology and Art History at the University of Winnipeg, taking her summers off to go backpacking and work in different research labs. She obtained her medical degree at the University of Manitoba. In her free time she enjoys traveling, hiking with her dogs, drinking a lot of coffee, and trying new restaurants. Stephanie will begin a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in July 2017 in Toronto.
Terry_webDr. Terry Colbourne, Member-at-Large (RDoC)
Dr. Terry Colbourne is a PGY3 in Internal Medicine, returning for a second year to represent Manitoba residents on the PARIM board and nationally on the RDoC board. He is also excited to represent Manitoba as Vice-President of RDoC for 2016-17. He was born and raised in Thompson, MB and completed his MD in Manitoba but left the province to complete his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Queen's and Dalhousie University, respectively. As a medical student, he participated in student governance broadly, including as Manitoba Medical Student Association president and on the Canadian Federation of Medical Students executive. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife Sara, newborn son Arthur, and their golden retriever Sophie, and taking in as much sports as possible.
Adriana_webDr. Adriana Krawchenko-Shawarsky, Member-at-Large (RDoC)
Adriana is a third year Emergency Medicine Resident. She completed both her Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics and her Medical Degree at the University of Manitoba. she has a keen interest in Palliative Care and hopes to incorporate both emergency and palliative care medicine in her career. When she's not in the resuscitation room, she enjoys playing golf, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She is very excited to represent Manitoba residents on a national level on the RDoC board and to be sitting on the PARIM Executive!
Rebecca_WebDr. Rebecca Renkas, Past President
Dr. Renkas was born and raised in Winnipeg. She completed her Bachelor of Science and Medical degrees at the University of Manitoba. Having completed her residency training, she is now practicing Family Medicine in Winnipeg. She is especially interested in women’s health, including obstetrics, family planning and menopause. In July 2016, Becky successfully completed a basic training course at the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, California.
Jessica_webJessica Burleson, Executive Director
Jessica became the Executive Director in January 2015. In her administrative experience, she managed a full-time post-secondary English program for International students for almost a decade. An experienced educator, she has taught at the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba, where she also earned her B.A. and M.Ed. Jessica is devoted to lifelong learning, has studied a number of foreign languages, and once upon a time, performed onstage in cabarets and Fringe productions. She is dedicated to the representation, protection, and promotion of PARIM and would like to invite residents to drop by the PARIM office at HSC to say hello to her. Kim_webKim Irvine, Administrative Assistant
Kim is the first face visitors see when they walk into the PARIM office at HSC. She is a dedicated worker and has over 35 years experience with the medical profession through Doctors Manitoba. In 2008, she retired from her old profession; however, she decided to come out of retirement to work with PARIM. Kim has been married for the past 44 years to her husband, John, and has a son as well. She is also the proud grandmother of two. She loves to travel and read in her spare time.
