Dear Residents, I would like to thank all of you for a tremendous year. PARIM has advocated for you on many fronts and I am proud to say that your organization has been successful for you in many regards. It has been an honour to lead and serve as your PARIM president. COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT We are happy to inform you that the 2018-2021 Collective Agreement is completed. Please see here. BILL 28 – PUBLIC SERVICES SUSTAINABILITY ACT (PSSA) Manitoba’s labour movement has won the court case regarding the PSSA. In conclusion, this victory upholds the right to collective bargaining and confirms that the PSSA is unconstitutional. HAZARD PAY PARIM strongly advocated on your behalf to ensure residents would be included in the government’s plan for hazard pay for Manitoba’s frontline workers. Unfortunately, according to the provincial government’s eligibility criteria, residents would not qualify for the benefits. See detailed information here: https://manitoba.ca/covid19/infomanitobans/mrrp.html#eligibility. PARIM STATEMENT ON RACISM Amidst the worldwide movements condemning racism and discrimination, PARIM has written a statement which can be seen here. Any other updates can be found on the PARIM website. Once again, THANK YOU residents, for reaching out to PARIM with your concerns. We are dedicated to maintaining open communication and I assure you we will continue to advocate for you in all regards. Sincerely, |
Dr. Esther Kim, Outgoing PARIM President |
