Dr. Hassan Abdallah, PGY 2, Internal Medicine
Hey everyone! My name is Hassan and I am one of the R2s in Internal Medicine. Since I’ve started residency here in Winnipeg, I have been keen to be involved in various PARIM groups such as the Awards and Financial Audit committees, while also being the MC of the main PARIM Gala last year.
As your medicine representative, I would love to take this eagerness to be involved and extend that to representing a large group of talented residents in different programs. I can guarantee that I can take your concerns and advocate for you in the PARIM environment, while also being easily accessible by email, text, or the random conversations we have in the hallway in the work environment.
Sincerely,
Hassan Abdallah R2
Dr. Nicholas Blake, PGY 2, Internal Medicine
I am excited to apply for the Program Delegate position with PARIM. With a strong background in leadership and advocacy through previous executive roles in both the Canadian Armed Forces and professional sectors, I aim to bring a unique perspective and strong commitment to resident wellness.
As the former Department Head of Human Resources for the Royal Canadian Navy, I have extensive experience managing personnel issues, navigating board negotiations and duties, and ensuring the wellbeing of team members in high-pressure environments. This role further developed my ability to listen, advocate, and lead with integrity—skills I believe are essential to effectively serve our groupings community well.
I understand the challenges we face, and I am committed to working collaboratively to address them. If elected, I will strive to be a strong, approachable voice for all of our grouping’s residents, ensuring that our concerns are heard, understood, and addressed with urgency and transparency. I look forward to the opportunity to serve our amazing resident community and to contribute meaningfully to PARIM’s continued success.
Dr. Alexander Pearson, PGY 4, Cardiology
Hello! My name is Alex, and I am one of the new cardiology residents. I am very excited to be running for PARIM Program Delegate. During my core internal medicine training in Ottawa, I was an active member of Ontario’s equivalent resident association (PARO). I have consistently advocated for
residents, particularly in the areas of wellness and improving working conditions. For example, I served as the Social Lead for my PARO chapter, organizing a regular schedule of events aimed at helping residents relax, unwind, and connect with each other outside of work. These included fitness events, restaurant gatherings, and seasonal activities. I also co-led the founding of an annual Wellness Day, during which residents from all programs were excused from service to attend a full day of organized activities including fitness sessions, brunch, a comedy night, and dinner. In addition, I have represented residents on various committees. As a member of the Faculty Council, I worked to ensure residents’ voices were heard and that program policies reflected our needs and perspectives. If given the honor of serving as your delegate, I will bring this experience and my ongoing passion for resident advocacy to the PARIM Program Delegate role. Thank you for your consideration!
Dr. Arjun Raghavan, PGY 2, Internal Medicine
Hello, my name is Arjun Raghavan, and I am a PGY2 core internal medicine resident. I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Medicine Grouping program delegate on the PARIM board of directors.
My experiences in medical school have ignited a passion for student advocacy which I hope to continue to develop in residency as your program delegate. As the academic representative for my class for all four years of medical school, I have actively participated in student council meetings and collaborated with faculty and staff to address the concerns of my peers. This experience has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges we face and the critical importance of effective communication and representation. I want to take an active role in advocating for our needs and ensuring initiatives are promoted which enhance our education and wellbeing. By serving on the board, I hope to bring our collective voices to the forefront and drive meaningful change for all residents. Thank you for considering my candidacy.
