2026-27 Primary Care Board Candidates

I am a PGY-3 resident in the Family Medicine Integrated Clinician Scholar Program at the University of Manitoba, and I am excited to run for the PARIM Board as the Primary Care representative. 

Throughout my residency, I have been actively involved in resident leadership and advocacy. I served as the Lead Resident for my site during my PGY-2 year and have been the Wellness Representative for the past two years. These leadership roles have allowed me to engage with residents, understand their concerns, advocate for meaningful improvements, and work collaboratively with faculty to enhance the learning environment. 

I also represent Family Medicine residents on the PGME Committee and the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, where I have gained valuable experience in advocating for my peers and contributing to discussions that advance resident education and well-being. In addition to this, my involvement with the PGME and Entrada Assessment Team has provided further insight into resident education, assessment, and the value of collaborative problem-solving. 

I believe that effective resident representation is built on open communication, active listening, transparency, and collaboration. If elected, I will be committed to ensuringthat the voices of primary care residents are heard and that their perspectives are represented thoughtfully and effectively. I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to advocate for initiatives that support resident learning, well-being, and professional growth.

Hello! My name is Yeyoung Won, I am a PGY2 resident in the Public Health and Preventative Medicine program, currently completing my Family Medicine training in Brandon, Manitoba. Doctors Manitoba has declared 2026 to be the “Year of Retention”, and I strongly believe that this begins with ensuring that our residents are properly supported.

As PARIM Program Delegate for the Primary Care Grouping, I will advocate on your behalf to ensure that our residency training experiences are safe, with reasonable work expectations while also adequately meeting educational goals. As a family medicine resident, I’m also acutely aware of the massive learning curve we have in our relatively short training periods – not only do we have to learn the huge scope of clinical medicine in family practice in just two years, but there is a huge variety in how primary care attendings choose to practice, bill, and work in the business of medicine! I am passionate about ensuring residents have access to resources focused on Transition to Practice, so that we can all feel confident and prepared moving forward in our careers.
