2026-27 Rural, Remote and Bilingual Board Candidates

Dr. Jennifer Setlack, PGY 2 Parkland Family Medicine

Hi, I’m Jennifer Setlack, a second-year Family Medicine resident in the Parkland rural stream, based in Dauphin. Having grown up Ste. Anne Manitoba, rural communities and the people who live and work in them have always been deeply important to me. Advocating for rural residents is something I genuinely care about.

In 2025-2026, I’ve had the privilege of serving as PARIM’s Rural, Remote, and Bilingual Representative. In that role, I attended every board meeting, served on the Awards and Social Wellness Committees, worked closely with residents and site leads to understand concerns firsthand, bring forward issues, and push for practical change – including securing funding so each rural site could host its own wellness events rather than being left out of larger Winnipeg-based programming. I also advocated for improved accommodations for residents travelling to Winnipeg for mandatory rotations, work that has already led to meaningful change. Beyond PARIM, I serve on the Resident Wellbeing Committee and Distributed Medical Education Committee, where I’ve worked closely with residents navigating workplace concerns and challenges at rural sites.

After spending the last year learning where change is possible, I know there is still more I want to accomplish. I would value the opportunity to continue representing residents and advocating for meaningful improvements that ensure rural trainees feel supported, heard, and never overlooked. And if re-elected, I’m fully prepared to continue applying my apparently concerning tolerance for committee work.
