Dr. Jessica McBride, PGY 1 General Surgery
Hello everyone! My name is Jessica McBride, and I am a PGY1 resident in General Surgery. I am excited to put my name forward for the Perioperative Representative position because I enjoy serving my colleagues and helping create a positive training environment. I believe I am well suited for the representative role for several reasons: as a former University of Manitoba trainee, I believe I have good understanding of PGME operations; I have a strong desire to advocate for my colleagues and find such work fulfilling; and I have had extensive experience in similar roles previously. Examples of these roles include Wellness Representative with the Manitoba Medical Students Association, Student Representative on the Doctors Manitoba’s Physician Wellness Committee, and Class Representative for the Brandon Longitudinal Clerkship Program at the University of Manitoba. I would be honoured to represent my fellow residents in this new role and learn how best to support the group. Thank you for your support and vote!
Dr. Jaskaran Singh, PGY 4 Orthopaedic Surgery
My name is Jaskaran Singh, and I am a PGY-4 Orthopaedic Surgery resident at the University of Manitoba. I am running to serve as a Peri-Operative Program Delegate because I want residents across surgical, anesthesia, critical care, obstetric, and procedural programs to have an accessible and dependable voice on the PARIM Board. Through my roles as Co-Lead Resident in Orthopaedic Surgery, an elected Senior Resident Representative on the Surgical Education Postgraduate Education Committee, and a resident member of the Committee for Education Support and Remediation, I have gained experience listening to trainee concerns, communicating across programs, and working collaboratively toward practical solutions.
If elected, I will actively seek input from residents throughout the Peri-Operative grouping and advocate for issues affecting our day-to-day training, including resident wellness, call and workload, safe learning environments, educational quality, and clear communication about PARIM initiatives and the Collective Agreement. I will be responsive, approachable, and transparent, and I will ensure that concerns are brought forward respectfully and followed through. I would be honoured to represent my colleagues and contribute constructively to PARIM’s work.
