Resident Awareness Week 2021

Dear Residents,

It is my privilege to write to you today and mark the beginning of our Resident Awareness Week! This annual event provides an opportunity to educate the public and our healthcare colleagues about the invaluable role residents have in the delivery of healthcare services in Manitoba. It is also an occasion to show our thanks and appreciation for your hard work and dedication.

There are approximately 600 residents in Manitoba, representing nearly 20% of Manitoba’s physician workforce across a broad spectrum of disciplines. The work of residents is essential to the functioning of our healthcare system, as has been demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the course of this week, you will hear from university leaders and others expressing their appreciation for your service and dedication this past year. We also invite you to take part in our Yoga event on Thursday, and keep your eyes open for free snacks and giveaways throughout the week!

Lastly, I am excited to announce that the PARIM Contract Survey is going live on Tuesday, February 16th! This survey is your chance to provide direct feedback on our current collective agreement and share what you would like to see in our next contract renegotiation. Your input is essential, and all programs have been asked to provide you with protected time for survey completion. All residents who complete the survey will be eligible to enter several prize draws!

On behalf of the PARIM team, I hope you have an enjoyable Resident Awareness Week! For all that you do, thank you.

Dr. Joshua Aquin, PARIM President
