Dr. Hassan Abdallah, PGY 1, Internal Medicine
Hey everyone! My name is Hassan and I am a first-year IM resident here at the University of Manitoba running for secretary. I have been actively engaged in PARIM since the start of my training thus far but hope to help more to make a positive influence in the tough residency environment.
Over the past year, I have served on both the PARIM Financial Audit Review Committee and the Awards Committee. These roles gave me insight into the union’s governance and helped me understand how we can make our internal processes meaningful. I also had the privilege of emceeing the PARIM Awards Ceremony – a celebration that reminds us how important it is to acknowledge the contributions of our peers.
I am especially proud to have championed the creation of PARIM’s new Wellness Award. Our wellbeing is a necessity, and by recognizing those who uplift our environment and support our mental and emotional health, we affirm the kind of culture we want to cultivate in medicine.
As Secretary, I will bring attention to detail, a commitment to fairness, and a passion for amplifying resident voices. I will of course ensure accurate and timely records, but more importantly, I will be a reliable advocate for transparent communication across the organization.
I am excited to build on my first year of involvement by contributing even more meaningfully in a leadership role. Thank you for your support and the opportunity to serve.
Dr. Rohan Sanjanwala, PGY 2, Internal Medicine
Dear PARIM Members,
My name is Dr. Rohan Sanjanwala, and I am honored to seek re-election as Secretary of PARIM. As a second-year Internal Medicine resident, I am deeply committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaged resident community. I believe that every resident should feel heard, valued, and empowered to thrive both professionally and personally.
During my first year as Secretary, I worked to identify and address the unique challenges faced by our rural residents. As a member of the Alternate Pathway Committee, I have helped pave the way for new physicians transitioning into practice. Additionally, as Chairperson of the Communication and Outreach Committee, I have collaborated to develop strategies to enhance resident engagement. I have also actively supported PARIM’s initiatives, ensuring that our
collective voice is represented and that residents’ needs remain a priority.
If re-elected, I will continue advocating for transparent communication, enhanced resident support, and meaningful initiatives that strengthen our community. With your support, I look forward to building on our progress and further enriching the residency experience for all.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rohan Sanjanwala
